The proprietor of Assunah Madrasah and Academy, Prof Abdulrasaq Alaro, has urged Muslim parents, students and proprietors of conventional and Islamic schools to strike a balance between Western and religious education.

The scholar also called on the government to support Islamic academies to promote moral behaviour in youths.

He made the call in Ilorin, Kwara State, while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the academy’s graduation ceremony, noting that it had become imperative for Muslims to understand physical and spiritual upbringing.

He urged parents to enroll their children in Islamic schools where they would be tutored in the way of Almighty Allah.

He noted that Islamic schools played a greater role in reshaping the nation through the better upbringing of youths for the betterment of society.

Prof Nasiru Abdus-Salam, the Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, enjoined the graduates to make judicious use of the knowledge acquired through service to Allah and humanity.

He called on parents to ensure proper monitoring of their children and called on Nigerian youths to shun bad company.

Malam Mubarak Haroon, the principal of the academy, said there was a need to promote Islamic heritage among people, which he noted would ensure an Allah-conscious and peaceful society.
