Muslims in Osun State on Tuesday thronged to the Osogbo City Stadium for the celebration of the New Year of the Islamic Calendar, Hijrah 1440 A.H.
The event was organized by Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC) in collaboration with the Osun State Government.
The State Government declared Tuesday a public holiday in the state to enable the people enjoy the celebration of 1st of Muharam of Hijrah 1440.

The state Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola was among the dignitaries that attended the celebration.
The President of OSMC, Alhaji Mustafa Adeleke Olawuyi stood on the podium as school children matched on.
