In its sustained efforts to engender religious harmony and peaceful coexistence in Lagos, the Nashirullahi Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) yesterday organised a 4-kilometre walk with Christians.
The walk tagged, “Walk for Religious Harmony: Showcasing Muslims and Christians” was part of the 21st anniversary programme of NASFAT.
It started from Sheraton Hotel and Towers at Maryland to the National headquarters of NASFAT at Lagos Secretariat, Alausa Ikeja.
Many Christian leaders, including Pastor M.A Lawson of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Pastor Godwin Elabor of the Foursquare Gospel Church, joined the walk.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef led the walk from Sheraton, while the team was received at NASFAT secretariat by Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Idiat Oluranti Adebule.
The deputy governor commended NASFAT for the initiative, urging other religious bodies to embrace same. The National President of NASFAT, Alhaji Kamil Yomi Bolarinwa, stressed the need for Nigerians irrespective of their religious affiliation to be their brothers’ keeper and ensure there was peace in the country.
