Maoulud Nabbiy is an annual event which commemorates the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
The event was marked with sermons on exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad and march pass by school children including those in Arabic and Islamic training institutes across the 16 Local Government areas of the state.
In his message at the event, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki urged Nigerians to be vanguard of peace, unity and religious tolerance to guard against disharmony as general elections draw nearer
Saraki who was represented by one of his Aides, Alhaji Abdullahi Oganija advised Muslims to inculcate the sterling behaviour of Prophet Muhammad who he identified as a role model.
Saraki charged Nigerians to exhibit peaceful conduct in the forthcoming general elections so that more development could be attained in the county.
In his remark, the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed represented by his Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Alhaji Abdulsalam Babatunde-Bello enjoined youth to desist from drug abuse and other ignoble actions that could hinder their future.
Governor Ahmed who congratulated Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Maolud Nabbiyy, appealed to them to be good Ambassadors of Islam.
While giving his remarks, the Emir of Ilorin stressed the importance of peace and unity and advised residents of the state to continue to imbibe it.
The monarch advised Muslims to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammad by shunning acts capable of retarding the progress and development of the country.
In his Lecture, the National Missioner, Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Shaikh Abdulmumin Ayara challenged Muslim youth to emulate the youthful age of Prophet Muhammad to insulate them against negative tendencies.
In his keynote address, the Pioneer Grand Khadi in the state, Justice Abdulkdir Orire chronicled the historical development of Maolud celebration in the state date back to 1968 which he said was geared to reflect on teachings of the holy prophet.
