Muslim women look beyond maintaining matrimonial homes, acquire education – Sultan

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has urged Islamic Scholars to always offer him useful advices in leading the Ummah.

“We should be called to order when we err because we are human like anybody. I assure you we will take the necessary step to correct it,” he said

The monarch was speaking at the Qur’anic graduation ceremony of Sheikh Sidi Attahiru Institute for Qur’anic and General Studies, Sokoto

Sultan Sa’ad who lauded the scholars for their relentless efforts in propagating Islam, said the Sultanate Council was working with them to promote the true teachings of the religion in the country.

The monarch also underscored the importance of acquiring knowledge, especially by Muslin women.

“We need female doctors and nurses to take care of our sisters in the hospital and we also need female engineers among other professionals,” he said

He added:” So Muslim women need to look beyond maintaining their matrimonial homes, they should endeavour to acquire education as it will help them in their marital life.”

The royal father noted that the women need knowledge to live happily with their spouses, to train their children and contribute to the development of their societies.

While congratulating the 63 graduates, he called on them not to relent in seeking knowledge as there was no limitation in acquiring knowledge.

In his remarks, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said his government was spending a lot to better the lives of its citizens.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Religious Affairs, Haruna Maishanu, Tambuwal  said they had been sponsoring Imams and cleric for lesser hajj and to perform pilgrimage in the Holy land.
