One of the speakers, Sheikh Isa Akindele, said: “We wonder why government policies and the legislations by the National Assembly members have refused to solve our problems.

“Insecurity especially has persisted because we no longer value the lives of our fellow beings. Today, human lives in the country have become worthless.

“But with faith, which Islam emphasisies, we can understand the sacredness of the soul and the prohibition to taking it unjustly.”

The Director, School of Preliminary Studies, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulkadir Ibrahim Abikan, urged Nigerians to shun injustice.

Meanwhile, the President of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA), Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has called on the governments at all levels to redouble their in addressing the myriads of challenges facing the country.

Speaking during the alumni’s Annual General Meeting in Lagos, Salisu said: “The country’s challenges, regrettably, are mutually reinforcing with one aggravating the other and thus undermining the efforts to address them. Whilst we call on government at all levels to double up the efforts and seek innovative solutions, we urge Nigerians not to give up on the Nigerian project.”
