The Sisters of Jannah, a women Islamic group, has supported about 100 widows and orphans in Miyetti Allah quarters in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The gesture was aimed at extending a helping hand to the needy and less privileged in the society.

In its ‘Mop Up the Closet’ activity towards helping others keep warm, healthy and happy, the group provided  clothes, beans, maize, sweet potato, soap, shoes and kitchen utensils to the beneficiaries.

Speaking at the occasion, the Assistant Coordinator, Kaduna zone, Bilkisu Abdulmumin, said: “We are not rich, but we decided to squeeze out a little from what we have to give to Muslims in our various societies in order to gain Allah’s blessings. We have been going to orphanages, visiting hospitals and prisons, but this time, we decided to do a community outreach so that we can meet the widows and orphans.

“Through this, we are also helping to propagate Islam because if someone helps you out of a problem, it will help you to know that you are not alone and we pray that this effort provides a gate way for us all into Jannatul Firdausi,” she said.

The coordinator said the group has organised cancer awareness programmes where they were able to provide free screening to over 100 women. She called on government, corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to do their bit in helping the needy in the society.

The village head of the community, Ahmad Abdulkadir, thanked the group for the gesture, which he said would go a long way in easing the difficulties faced by residents in the community.

The Women Leader of the community, Aisha Ibrahim, prayed Allah guides the group for the help they are rendering to widows and orphans.
