The Muslim Council in Taraba State has raised concerns over alleged lopsided appointments of principal officers at the state university without sensitivity to the multi-religious and diverse ethnicity of the state.

The council had last month faulted the appointments of permanent secretaries and heads of state’s owned tertiary institutions by Governor Darius Ishaku, alleging marginalization of the Muslims in the exercise.

The council in a statement signed by its chairman, Khadi Abdulmumini Abubakar; secretary, Alhaji Chindo Bose and 18 others, said rather than address its earlier alarm on issue of marginalization, the government rather “flagrantly continued with the marginalization agenda as portrayed in the recent appointments of principal officers of Taraba State University.

According to the Council, the appointees are not only from the same religious affiliation, but also from one ethnic group in the Taraba South Senatorial District.

“Therefore, we wish to remind the governor of the oath of office to which he swore that he will “do right to all manner of people, according to the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will,” the council said.
