‘The Right Choice’ has a mix of both Nollywood and Kannywood stars like never before and is arguably one of the most anticipated films in 2020.
A Kannywood movie, ‘The Right Choice’, produced by Abubakar Bashir Maishadda and Kabiru Jammaje, worth N35m, is featuring top Nigerian stars. These include Sani Mu’azu, Segun Arinze, Sola Sobowale, Nancy E.Isime, Enyinna Nwigwe, Ali Nuhu, Abba El-Mustapha, Asabe Madaki and several more.
Speaking to Daily Trust Saturday, Maishadda, who is producing in collaboration with Kabiru Jammaje, said the film project will be the biggest in Kannywood because it is entirely different from what usually comes out of the Hausa film industry.
“‘The Right Choice’ is the first Kannywood movie that assembles top Nollywood and Kannywood stars,” he said, adding that its unique storyline, production and budget makes it stand out.
“Since the creation of Kannywood, no film has ever got a budget as big as ‘The Right Choice’. We brought many top Nollywood stars, and we assembled them along many top Kannywood stars. On the issue of the story line, I bet you any film lover in West Africa will love the movie. It’s about a young female journalist, Nanjala, who gets into trouble in the process of doing her work. But she stands against all odds. It’s a good story, and the cast and crew did well in bringing out the best out of the script.”
But are they confident about recovering the money invested? Maishadda expressed optimism, adding that “our own part is to conduct research and make a good movie, but the returns is from God alone and He has planned everything already. So I am optimistic about the project, and I am sure we will realize a huge profit.”
Maishadda has produced films in Hausa such as ‘Mariya’, ‘Kanwar Dubarudu’, ‘Mudajala’, ‘Hafeez’, ‘Sareena’, ‘Hauwa Kulu’ and ‘Wutar Kara’.
Commenting on the movie, the lead character, Nancy Isime, wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “And it’s a wrap for me on the set of ‘The Right Choice’ movie. I absolutely loved being Hajiya for almost two weeks.
“Shout out to the producer, Abubakar Bashir Maishadda, our director, Ali Nuhu, the E.P, crew and co-actors. Thank you, Abuja, hello Lagos.”
Directed by Ali Nuhu, the movie is expected to premiere in December, 2020.
