The Mufti of Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheikh Sulaiman Farooq Onikijipa, Thursday tasked Islamic organisations not to deviate from the guiding principles of Islam.

He stated this in a lecture at the annual Mawlid Nabiyy and special prayer organised by the Al-Jamahatul Quadiriyah Islamic Movement, Lagos State under the Grand Khalifa, Sheikh Muhammad Soliu Amosa.

The celebration attracted Muslims from across Nigeria and West African countries, especially members of the Quadiriyah movement.

Onikijipa recalled the legacies of late Quadiriyah leaders, including Sheikh Rufaai Abubakar Inda Salaty and Nasiru Muhammad Al-Muktar Kabara, who, he said, upheld the teachings of the religion while leading the movement.

He tasked the current leaders of Quadiriyah movement to endeavour to study the contributions of past leaders whom he noted sacrificed for the growth of the society and the Islamic religion.

The host of the occasion, Abdul-Kadir Muhammad Jum’ah, said the group offered special prayers for Nigeria to overcome the present challenges of insecurity and sick economy.

He said the country could only prosper in an atmosphere of peace, security and inter-ethnic harmony, urging Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers.

The occasion also witnessed the turbaning of Alhaji Haruna Ishola Lawal and Alhaja Sekinat Dosumu Lawal as the Baba Adinni and Iya Adinni of the Lagos State Quadiriyah respectively.
