MTN Nigeria has announced the launch of its new music reality talent show, ‘Y’ello Star, just as search begins for the next music idol.
Unveiling the talent-hunt TV show at its headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos on Sunday evening, Rahul De, the Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, said the show seeks to groom musical talents by providing a lifetime opportunity to turn their dreams and aspirations into reality.
He said the talent hunt would search for, discover, nurture, expose and launch music talents in young Nigerians.
This is coming few weeks after the leading telecom company launched its ‘Turn It Up’ media campaign aimed at inspiring creativity among Nigerian youths.
“We know that there are a lot of talented people in Nigeria who need to turn up their musical careers.
“This platform will help launch them to musical heights. We have a wealth of experience in supporting Nigerian talent and are confident we can improve on our past successes,” Rahul said.
According to the company, regional auditions are expected to hold in Abuja, Enugu and Lagos, as the competition runs till June 2020.
It added that finalists from the auditions will proceed to the ‘incubation hub’ in Lagos, where they will be coached by experts in the music industry in several areas as they aim for the top prize.
It would be recalled that MTN Nigeria has trained hundreds of young Nigerians in the art and business of music through the MTNF/MUSON Scholarship Programme since 2006.
“Y’ello Star takes this further by bringing the process of creating the ultimate superstar to every Nigerian television screen,” Rahul added.
He noted that MTN has also created entertainment platforms such as Music+, MTN Y’ello Top 10 and the newly launched music-streaming platform, Music Time – all in a bid to promote unbridled talent on the global stage.
He, however, urged the Nigerians, especially the youths with music talents, to partake in the show.
