Sir, if Akure, Ondo State, that currently has seven universities, including a Federal University of Technology (FUT), did not reject the conversion of FCE Akure to Federal University of Education, it will be ridiculous to even think that Zaria, which is popularly described as the Centre of Learning, that has only one university, ABU Zaria, would not embrace the conversion of FCE Zaria to a university.
Sir, one can confidently say that, except for a few unsuspecting dignitaries who are possibly being misled by some self-seeking individuals at FCE Zaria, almost all the stakeholders in Zaria such as the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli , the amiable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, Governor Uba Sani, the Minister representing Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas, the education Commissioner, Prof Muhammad Sani Bello, the majority of the FCE Zaria academic community and the great people of Zazzau are solidly in support of the upgrade.

It is against this background that we the undersigned people of Zaria community humbly entreat with Your Excellency never to reckon the mischief being peddled around that Zaria doesn’t need the conversion. This is falsehood intended to blackmail the good people of Zaria who always cherish and pursue knowledge and scholarship since time immemorial.
We wholeheartedly believe that a university is universal and all-inclusive, as such the conversion of FCE Zaria to a federal university of education will never in any way shortchange the institution. On the contrary, it will unhesitatingly bring forth the much-desired rapid progress and development of Zaria, Kaduna State and the country in general.
