Mouka retains name after $60m acquisition

Mouka, an indigenous manufacturer of mattresses and other bedding products, has retained its brand name after a $60 million acquisition by a Moroccan company, Dolidol.

The acquisition in December 2021 changed the ownership of the company, insisting the partnership is a win-win for both parties.

Speaking at an event in Lagos at the weekend, the Managing Director, Mr Femi Fapohunda, explained that the change of name was not a condition for the acquisition.

“The brand name remains but later, we can see a gradual integration of the name as a member of the Dolidol Group International.”

The firm also rewarded its loyal business partners with various prizes such as tricycles, air conditioners and television sets.

The MD said, “Mouka’s success story spanning over 63 years would not have been possible without your hard work and dedication. Our ability to maintain the leading position in the sleep industry of Nigeria could not have been possible without you (business partners).”

The company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Dimeji Osingunwa, also unveiled a new scheme where the business partners could win trips to exotic destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Marakesh in Morocco and Zanzibar in Tanzania upon achievement of their sales target for July to December of 2022.

A business partner from South West and beneficiary, Mufutau Owolabi, stated that the relationship with Mouka has been cordial, mutually beneficial and rewarding. He eulogised the company for its immense support over the years.

Another beneficiary, Ismaila Amusa, noted that Mouka has been adding value to his business through similar rewards that have positively impacted his trade.
