Motorist crushes cyclist on Abuja-Lokoja Road

A cyclist has been crushed to death by a hit and run vehicle at Pai Junction, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A witness said the incident happened last Thursday, around 5:16 pm when the cyclist was crossing the highway without watching properly in which an over speeding vehicle coming from Gwagwalada, ran over him.

He said the cyclist died on the spot, while the driver sped off without stopping, saying the remains of the cyclist have been evacuated by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and deposited at the Kwali General Hospital morgue.

An official of the FRSC who said he was not authorised to talk to the press confirmed the incident, saying the corpse has been deposited at the Kwali General Hospital morgue.

City & Crime also learnt that one person died after a trailer was involved in another accident on the same day near Yangoji, along the highway.

It was gathered that officials of the FRSC mobilised to the scene and conveyed the corpse to Kwali General Hospital morgue.
