A 20-year-old motorcyclist, Dauda Rabiu, on Thursday, appeared before a Gwagwalada magistrates’ court, Abuja, over criminal breach of trust and theft.
The police charged Rabiu of Dagiri in Gwagwalada with two-count of criminal breach of trust and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mayowa Adefioye, told the court that the complainant, Geoffery Dangnap, reported the matter at the Gwagwalada Police Station on December 30.
Adefioye said the defendant went out with the complainant’s Bajaj motorcycle valued at N235,000 and came back to tell him that the motorcycle was snatched from him.
He said during investigation by the police, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of what happened to the motorcycle.
Adefioye said the offences contravened Sections 312 and 287 of the Penal Code and prayed the court to try the defendant summarily and sentence him accordingly, while the complainant is compensated.
The Magistrate, Mr Yusuf Ibrahim, ordered that more investigation be carried out on the matter as a result of its complexity.
Ibrahim admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one reasonable surety and adjourned the case to January 8, 2021. (NAN)
