The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON) has sealed a pact with the police to have access to all vehicle particulars nationwide.

The National President, Prince Mr Ajibola Adedoyin said the database access will improve vehicle security and reduce the prevalent incidences of vehicle theft.

Adedoyin who spoke after he received a merit award from the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in Abuja at the weekend noted that it was to secure vehicles being sold by all registered motor dealers in the country.

“We have signed the MoU, we are about to take of within the next two months, we want to create enough awareness on it.

“For anyone that sells vehicles, we want to ensure we are united and that we have our database of vehicles with the police,” he said.

AMDON said it went into the partnership because its members are often subjected to cases of vehicle thefts and are made to incur huge losses because such vehicles brought to them are not verifiable with the police.

“To help our members and to ensure the safety of our customers, we are partnering with the police so that we can be able to access the stolen vehicle data,” Adedoyin explained.

On the award, the AMDON boss said, “They have seen my contributions and leadership style towards the transportation sector in the country and that AMDON has been trying to introduce some kind of innovation and also on the automotive policy.”

The National President of NAPS while presenting the award to Mr Adedoyin and a Certificate of Credence to AMDON said the association has become more popular than it used to be.

“The MoU that the president facilitated with the police is a giant stride as it will help to check vehicle theft which affects many Nigerians at present,” he noted.
