Mother demands autopsy report, 2 months after daughter raped to death

Mother of 11-year-old Favour Okechukwu who was raped to death in September 2020, Mrs Ruth Okechukwu, has lamented that two months after an autopsy was conducted on her late daughter, the result has not been made available to her family.

The late Favour was allegedly ganged raped to death by some hoodlums in her community at Ejigbo, a suburb of Lagos.

Favour who was a JSS 3 student of Deo-Lively Stone International School was sent on an errand by her mum after the close of school on September 30th, 2020, from where she never returned back home.

After a rigorous search, her lifeless body was found in a dilapidated building at Agbare Avenue under power line in Ejigbo.

Her sudden death abruptly shattered her ambition of becoming a pilot and engineer.

Daily Trust reports that some arrests were made after the death of Favour as the police promised to get to the root of the matter.

The mother of the deceased has however decried delayed justice for her daughter about four months after her death.

She told Daily Trust that her husband took the corpse of their daughter from Isolo General Hospital to the Ikeja General Hospital for an autopsy on November 18, 2020.

“The mortuary attendant helped us to organise an ambulance that took the corpse and the test lasted from morning to night that day.

“We were told that the result will be ready within two to three weeks but up till now, we have not seen the result,” she said.

She urged the police and Lagos State Government to hasten the process of justice for her late daughter.
