‘Monetisation of electoral process, crime against democracy’

The Chief Executive of Connected Development, Hamzat Lawal, has berated politicians over the alleged inducement of political party delegates, describing their action as a crime against democracy and humanity.

In an interview with Daily Trust Saturday yesterday, Lawal stated that monetisation of the electoral process has dwindled the fabric of the society and the country’s democracy.

“Our fabric is breaking badly by this antic of politicians. We don’t have a collective vision any longer. As a society, we don’t have even empathy for our fellow mankind. Today, it’s all about accumulating wealth and greed,” he said.

The anti-corruption crusader hinted further that the process of delegates’ election that was inculcated into the electoral system is to ensure that the desired candidate would emerge as a representative who will carry out the aspiration of all for a better society.
