Monarch urges FRSC to remove broken down trucks on Abuja-Lokoja highway

The Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to intensify efforts in removing broken down trucks on the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

Alhaji Yunusa, who made the call when he received the FCT Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Muta’ah Chorrie, at his palace on Friday, attributed some of the crashes on the Abuja-Lokoja highway to broken down heavy duty trucks.

He said some of the heavy duty trucks that broke down in the middle of the road sometimes took a week before they were removed, which he noted most times resulted in crashes.

He further said, “The Abuja-Lokoja highway is the gateway to the FCT, and we often observe that some of these trucks that break down on the highway are left there for three to four days before they are removed. Sometimes they cause accidents.”

Earlier, Mr Chorrie informed the monarch that he decided to pay the homage to formally invite him to a town hall meeting scheduled for September, 26, 2024, at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja, to deliberate on issues of safety in the territory.
