Mob strips hoodlum for stealing yam in FCT

A mob has stripped a hoodlum for allegedly stealing yam tubers on a farm in Kango community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A resident, Bamaiyi Joshua, said the incident happened on Monday around 6pm on the farm of one Elder Ishaya.

He said Elder Ishaya had a few days ago caught the suspect harvesting yam from the farm and that he pleaded, claiming he was hungry and the man forgave him.

He further said, “On Monday, the suspect invaded the man’s farm again with a sack to harvest yam and maize. Unfortunately, luck ran out of him when another farmer saw him and alerted the owner of the farm.

“The suspect was then arrested and taken to the community where a mob descended on him and stripped him.

“The mob beat him up after they stripped him until vigilantes arrived and whisked him away.”

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
