Angry mob have set a suspected motorcycle thief ablaze at Kwali main market.

A witness, Samson Bala, said the incident happened on Tuesday, around 9.34am when the suspect went to the grains section of the market to remove the motorcycle.

He said the suspect monitored the owner of the motorcycle as he parked and went into the grain section of the market to buy grain, and then he went and retrieved the motorcycle.

“The motorcycle owner came out of the market and discovered that his motorcycle was no longer where he parked it and immediately raised an alarm,” he said.

According to him, some people who sighted the suspect riding the motorcycle out of the market informed the owner the direction the suspect took, and some okada riders immediately pursued the suspect.

“The thief was later apprehended along Kilankwa Road,” he said.

He said the mob descended on the suspect and killed him instantly, some poured petrol and set him ablaze.

Our reporter learnt that before some vigilante who were later informed about the incident could get to the scene, the mob had already set the suspect ablaze.

City & crime gathered that two motorcycles were declared missing last market day in Kwali.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command SP Adeh Josephine, said the command is not aware of the incident but will find out and revert to the reporter.
