Two herders seized from security agencies have been lynched and burnt by a mob at Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Daily Trust gathered that the victims were seized on the unsubstantiated claims that they had linked with banditry.
It was gathered that the mob then lynched and burnt the two persons.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i had condemned the killing of the herders.
“Governor El-Rufai expressed deep concern at the violent actions of the mob, and strongly condemned the extra-judicial killings.
“He reiterated the place of lawful methods as the only acceptable option in confronting any suspicions of criminality,” he said.
Aruwan said the governor had appealed to the families of the victims to remain calm and directed security agencies to conduct thorough investigations towards fishing out the perpetrators.
