A suspected kidnapper identified as Biakewe has been lynched by a mob for allegedly kidnaping market women in Edo State.
It was learnt that the suspect was killed at the Agbado community, Iguobazua, in Ovia South LGA of the state by the community youths.
It was further learnt that the youths have been on the trail of the kidnapping syndicate who specialised in kidnapping market women on their way to the market.
The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.
He said the Divisional Police Officer, Iquobazua, received information that some youths of the Agbado community accosted a motorcycle conveying one Biakewe whose surname yet unknown and two others who specialise in kidnapping market women in the community and environs.
He said the hoodlums, in an attempt to escape, opened fire on the youths and two of the suspects escaped while the said Biakewe was held and mobbed by the youths.
He said police rushed to the scene and rescued the suspect, recovered one live cartridges and expended cartridges.
He added that the suspect was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed died.
Chidi said the case was under investigation so as to arrest the fleeing members of the kidnapping gang.
