Mob kills prophet accused of stealing male genitals

Irate mob have allegedly killed one Prophet Uhembe Jacob who was accused of playing a role in the disappearance of some male genitals in Daudu community of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Daily Trust reports that the prophet’s Divine Shadow Church was set ablaze last week by the angry mob who fingered him as an accomplice in the missing genitals saga which had rocked the peace of the community since September.

The Police in Benue State had faulted allegations of missing genitals, noting that the victims taken to hospital were certified medically fit by doctors.

But, some of those alleged victims have insisted that they are not fit as they still could not function sexually.

Our correspondent however gathered on Monday that the prophet earlier said to have escaped mob action last week was eventually murdered after his house, church and all other properties were burnt to ashes.

It was learnt that the cleric was accosted by the mob and killed along Lafia road while running for his life to an unarmed village in Nasarawa State.

Protest

Meanwhile, the killing of prophet Jacob allegedly triggered protest by his Church members on Sunday as they demanded justice for the murdered cleric.

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer for Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed that the prophet was killed while attempting to run away in his car from Daudu.

Anene who could not say precisely when the man was killed said, the prophet was to be picked up (protective cover) by the DPO in Daudu but he rushed into his vehicle and ran away.

The PPRO who noted that the man was later killed, explained that the police was able to rescue the second person accused alongside the prophet and brought him into its protective covering.
