The Maternal, New born and Child Health programme in Northern Nigeria (MNCH2) is holding a one day editorial roundtable aimed at introducing new evidences and resources on Maternal and child health and how the media can play a role in advancing the health sector.
The participants are drawn from six States of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano , Katsina Yobe and Zamfara states.
Speaking at the opening session, Dr Dauda Suleiman Dauda called on participants to seek and sustain relationship for the betterment of the health sector.
He said the media has a great role in ensuring that things are done accordingly in the sector through solution based journalism, noting that the media can be supported to bring the desired change.
In his remarks, Dr Ashiru Hamza, an advocacy accountability officer presented a gory picture of the nations health indices were in every ten minutes 528 newborns are dying every day which needs a strong collaboration to change the tide.
