The chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Ondo State, Alhaji Bello Garba, says it had directed the police in the state to arrest and even prosecute any of its members found to be grazing at the airport in Akure.
Garba told Daily Trust that they had warned them severally to stay away from the airport without success.
According to him, the management of the airport have been complaining about the activities of these herdsmen which could lead to serious accident.
He said following the complaints, he called its members to order only to discover that some were still going there.
Garba said he had given the police the permission to deal with anyone caught.
He stressed that they were not out to cause trouble but to ensure that they live in peace with the people in the state.
Garba also said that they were working with security agencies to fish out criminals, especially those who were not their members who are spoiling their name.
He also noted that most of those criminal herdsmen come from neighbouring states of Ogun, Edo and other places to operate in Ondo, especially along Ore – Lagos road.
