Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions to the ban placed on Father Ejike Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry by the leadership of the Catholic Church.

In a statement released by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga, Catholics were barred from attending the Adoration Ministry.

The Bishop noted that the punitive measures were taken based on Mbaka’s utterances, which did not align with the principles of the Church.

Hate speech is ungodly

The letter, titled, ‘Pastoral Injunction On Attendance To Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu,’ stated that the decision was due to Mbaka’s persistent violation of several fraternal corrections and admonitions, as well as pastoral directives and guidelines for the Ministry Chaplaincy.

The statement read, “I hereby prohibit all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.

“My decision is based on the fact that some of the teachings and utterances of Fr Camillus Ejike Mbaka of the Catholic Adoration Ministry are not consistent with the teachings and faith of the Catholic church.”

Nigerians, however, took to social media to air their views. See reactions below:
