He said even though there were lamentations about what ought to be done, it is still a good thing that the state has left where we are before the state was created.

“Apart from the military governors who presided over the affairs of the state, those elected through ballot boxes from 1999 to date have done much to uplift the state both at infrastructure and other level.

For Kola Edokpayi, a human rights activist, said though Edo State is progressing but it has not gotten to where it should be.

He said, “Edo at 29, there is still much unemployment, human right violation by the police and sense of insecurity.

According to him, “At 29, I think we supposed to have cross that stage whereby there will be full employment and human rights violation will be a thing of the past.

But for Promise Edosa, Edo State has fare better in terms of infrastructural development.

“If you look at where we are coming from, you would know that Edo State has fared well. Though we have not gotten to our desire destination but there is cause to celebrate.

Also speaking Lilian Abibu noted Edo has made appreciable progress in its march to progress and prosperity at 29.

Meanwhile, governor Godwin Obaseki, in his message, said there have been concerted efforts to re-calibrate the state’s economy and place it on the path of progress.

“We are very much interested in ensuring that development in Edo is structured and well-planned and we are working on a 30-year development plan that would set the template for how our state would run for the good of the greatest number of people,” the governor said.

“it was heart-warming that Edo has maintained a very vibrant relationship with its sister state, Delta, which was created from the old Bendel State.
