The International Press Centre (IPC) has expressed concern over the sudden disappearance of the Vanguard’s reporter at the House of Representatives, Tordue Salem.
The reporter has been missing since last Wednesday.
The IPC called for thorough investigation.
Salem was reportedly sighted last at a filling station, opposite the FCT Police Headquarters Wednesday evening. The editor of the Vanguard, Eze Anaba, confirmed yesterday that Salem was yet to be found.
IPC Executive Director, Lanre Arogundade, in a statement yesterday, said: “Salem’s disappearance is disconcerting and the search for him should be accorded high priority by the police and other security agencies.”
“In a country where the rights of journalists and media professionals are continuously violated, concerted efforts by relevant stakeholders are necessary to ensure Mr. Salem returns to his family and beat safely, and that the safety of other journalists and media professionals is guaranteed”.
The IPC appealed to the government and the security agencies to do all within their powers to locate Salem.
