The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Thursday, set free the founder of Sotitobire Church, Prophet Alfa Babatunde, who was earlier convicted in a case of a missing child.
The court set aside the judgement of the Ondo State High Court that sentenced Prophet Alfa to life imprisonment.

The Ondo State High Court had sentenced Prophet Alfa to life imprisonment over the disappearance of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, in his church in November, 2019.
The cleric had prayed the appellate court to nullify his conviction and life imprisonment sentence by the lower the court.
The appellate court ruled that the “circumstantial evidence” the high court based its judgement was not enough to convict him.
Justice Gamma Barka read the judgement on behalf of the other judges.
