Ministers: Tinubu urged to consider only Nigerians with passion

Ahead of the unveiling of his ministers, President Bola Tinubu has been called upon to appoint only those that have the passion to serve the country.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, the Executive Director of Excellent Leadership for Sustainable Development and Good Governance in Nigeria, Eunice Bosua, said in view of the prevailing situation, the president needs credible, experienced and compassionate leaders to assist him drive his Renewed Hope agenda.

Bosua said Nigeria is blessed with enormous human and material resources but good leadership and teamwork is what has been lacking, adding that credible leadership is essential to take Nigeria to the promised land.

She said: “As we all know, the impact of poor governance has led to far-reaching security problems and economic hardship which has left the country in bad shape.

“It goes without saying therefore that the president has to, as a matter of urgency, look deep in selecting his cabinet with a sense of creativity, those that will run the affairs of the country with him.

“We believe that the president should choose persons with expert knowledge in strategic areas as we cannot afford to have the business-as-usual approach to governance.

President Tinubu needs Nigerians with the passion to serve the country and not just politicians.”

Bosua, flanked by other executives of the organisation, said following the new subsidy regime, the palliative measures that will follow must have a human face, such that the right people really get to feel the humanitarian impact of the government’s welfare policy.

“To this end, we believe that whoever will head the humanitarian ministry or that strategic portfolio will be someone with a rich history of compassion, a wealth of experience, and proven capacity in this sector.

“We believe that the cap fits Chief Temitope Ajayi, Mama Diaspora as she is popularly called, who has over the years displayed a passion for humanity and the less privileged.”
