The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, has unveiled the Geely Emgrand 7 and X7-Sport vehicle brands.
At the event in Lagos, Adebayo encouraged more investors to take advantage of the huge automotive market in Nigeria.
The brands are staging a comeback to Nigeria through Mikano International Limited, which is the core partner of Geely Automotive in Nigeria.
The Chairman and CEO of Mikano, Mr Mofid Karameh, said the partnership with Geely was signed in 2019.
Mr Karameh said, “It took us 10 years to make up our mind on which company to bring into Nigeria so we can be sure to deliver the best to our esteemed customers.”
The General Managing (Operations) of Mikano, Mr Kamal Karameh, disclosed that Mikano officially signed the partnership with Geely in 2019 and further elaborated on the global strength of Geely Auto, disclosing some very inspiring details about them.
He also said Geely was the owner of Volvo Car Group and the biggest shareholder of Daimler AG (group to which Mercedes Benz belongs) with its sales exceeding 2.1 million cars.
With over $14 billion investment in 10 years on research and development, as well as plans for more investment in five years, the official said Geely would provide the highest level of modern technologies in the automotive industry.
