The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk, has solicited the cooperation of communities along the 54km Kirfi-Gombe-Abba rural road to speed up the completion process to boost their economic activities.
The minister, who made the plea during an inspection visit to the construction site in Kirfi Local Government of Bauchi State, said the host communities should take ownership of the project by ensuring adequate security of the workers, adding that the road, when completed, will bring development to the area, particularly for rural dwellers.

Umar Farouk explained that the road which is a federal government project is one of the four major roads approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), adding that similar road projects were ongoing within the northeastern states of Yobe, Adamawa, and Bauchi-Gombe axis under the intervention of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).
