Minister reassures Nigerians of peaceful coexistence with Ghanaians

Nigeria’s minister of Foreign Affairs H.E Geoffrey Onyeama has reassured Nigerians of the peaceful coexistence with their Ghanaian counterparts.

He made this known via his tweets after meeting with the President of Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo in the capital city, Accra.

The minister’s tweets read, “I was in #Ghana as Special Envoy of H.E. President @MBuhari, Chair, #ECOWAS Heads of State and Government. Met with H.E. President @NAkufoAddo, President of the Republic of #Ghana.

“H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo has assured Nigerians in Ghana of their freedom to operate their businesses with ease and @ecowas_cedeao Member States that the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) Act will never be applicable to #ECOWAS citizens.”

 

“H.E President @MBuhari commended the efforts of his Ghanaian counterpart for the quick response & timely resolution of the crisis arising from the closure of shops belonging to Nigerians in Kumasi. “

“The process of addressing the situation had been on-going right from the moment the problem broke out.”
“The foreign Minister of Ghana came to Nigeria, met with me & made it clear that “the President was determined to have this matter resolved. Nigerians should have no problem doing business in Ghana.”

Onyeama added “Also during the United Nations General Assembly, President Buhari met with President Akufo-Addo and the matter has now been satisfactorily resolved.”

“This will ensure continued peaceful coexistence between citizens of our two countries.”
