The Nigerian Minister of Interior,  Abba Moro, has urged Christians to make sacrifices for Nigeria just as God sacrificed Jesus Christ for humanity.

Moro, in his Christmas Message on Tuesday, signed by his Special Assistant on Media, George Udoh, said God’s purpose of sending Jesus Christ into the world was to bring salvation to humanity, an action that demonstrates God’s love for humanity.

The Minster noted that just as  the celebrations offered Nigerians the opportunity to reflect on God’s love and compassion for man as epitomized in the gift of his begotten son for man’s redemption, Nigerians as a people should also think of what sacrifice they can make to ensure the  growth and development of the nation.

He explained that both the leaders and followers have their different roles to play to take Nigeria to greater heights, stressing that the current administration under the headship of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is committed to the transformation agenda.

He also urged them to pray for the nation in face of the current security challenges bedevilling a section of  the nation even as he tasked them to embrace love peace, unity, and tolerance of one another.

“I, therefore, call on Christians in the country to emulate Jesus Christ in words and deeds by imbibing the core lessons of love, sacrifice, generosity.  tolerance, and peaceful co-existence which Christ stood for,” he added.
