The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has said the state of the art equipment donated to the University of Abuja by the Chinese government will enhance the technical capacity of the students of the university and in turn positively impact on the development of the country.
Represented by the Director of Tertiary Education, Dr Kareem Olawale Lateef, the minister said the role of the youths being the targeted beneficiaries of the Luban Workshop, cannot be overemphasized. He said the programme would greatly contribute to the skills acquisition of the youths, which is fundamental to the economic development of the nation.

Adamu made the statement at an event to launch the Luban Workshop simultaneously in Nigeria and China recently, by the Tianjin Municipal government in collaboration with the Sino-German University of Applied Sciences and Tianjin Railway Vocational and Technical College.
“The workshop and the equipment we are commissioning today are the product of collaborative efforts between China and Nigeria. It is also a result of the emerging partnership in technological development and the socio-economic sector of our country,” he said.
While commending the vice chancellor of UniAbuja for working hard to strengthen linkages and sustain partnerships between the institution and organisations, he urged the students and staff to make judicious use of the equipment.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of UniAbuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, said: “This workshop, no doubt, will contribute immensely to strengthening our opportunities to not only be at the forefront of the move for the educational, technological and economic development of the country but to be a world-class university.”
“I would like to assure the government and the good people of China; and the government of Nigeria that the University of Abuja is well-positioned, endowed and prepared to take up this leadership responsibility with all sense of humility and determination,” he said.
