Minister charges rights community to fight for economic rights

The minister made the call during an advocacy visits by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) in his office. He said the human rights community should shift attention from civil and political rights to the fight against economic injustice and monitoring state fulfillment of economic and social rights.

“As consequences of youth without employment might lead to armed robbery, theft and other vices. These economic rights are: right to education, health, property, land ownership, social securities and freedom from poverty. If the society is provided with the necessary amenities, they will not think of violating others’ rights” he said.
