Teachers of primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) have threatened to resume strike if their minimum wage is not paid on or before 30th of April, 2021 by the FCT administration.
The chairman of the NUT in the FCT, Comrade Stephen Knabayi, stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after the State Wing Executive Committee (SWEC) meeting of the union at the Teachers House in Gwagwalada on Tuesday.

He said having discussed exhaustively on the minimum wage, the standing committee members of the union have unanimously agreed that the affected teachers have exercised enough restraint and patience.
“Hence, the minister should as a matter of urgency ensure the immediate implementation and payment of the arrears of the new national minimum wage to all primary school teachers in FCT on or before 30th April, 2021.
“Failure to effect the payment as mentioned, we will be left with no option than to direct all primary schools teachers to resume the suspended strike action with effect from 2nd May, 2021,” he said.
