The ministry has sought partnership with the media.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, who spoke in Abuja on Wednesday at a capacity building workshop for Defence correspondents, said a collective approach was required to surmount insecurity.

Irabo, represented by the Chief of Defence Administration, Rear Adm. Abdul Adamu, said the conventional asymmetric security challenges ranging from insurgency terrorism and banditry, militancy and other sundry crimes demanded a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach.

A former editor of the Daily Trust on Sunday, Dr Theophilus Abbah, while delivering a paper titled ‘The Journalist Code of Ethics, Conflict of Interest and National Security’, charged media practitioners not to bend the truth.

He said there should be a symbiotic relationship between the military and the media on information dissemination.
