Military recovers 45 rifles from militia in Nasarawa

The Nigerian military says it has recovered 45 assorted weapons and 701 assorted ammunition from Bassa militia camp in Zwere, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. 

Major General Adeyemi Yekini, the Commander of Operation Wild Stroke in charge of Nasarawa, Benue and Taraba disclossed this on Wednesday.

“We recovered 45 assorted rifles and 701 assorted ammunition which includes 1 Sub machine gun, 39 locally made Rifle, 2 G3 rifle, 3 locally made pistol, 5 G3 rifle magazines, 4 revolver cartridge holders, 100 of 9mm pistol links, 4 revolver cartridge holders rounds, 3 military uniforms, handsets, charms among others,” he said.

General Ayeni, while presenting the recovered weapons to newsmen in Lafia, said that, “I am presenting the weapons to you to show the success achieved following an intelligent reports by Operation Wild Stroke, an intervention force that was established about eight months ago with the mandate to put to an end, the incessant killings by armed herdsmen, militias groups and other criminal elements operating in Nasarawa, Benue and Taraba States.

“We have recovered a lot of weapons, ammunition and arrested suspects in the last eight months.”
