The state governor, Uba Sani, in a statement issued by the Overseeing Commissioner Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, ordered security agencies to investigate the incident.
However, 48 hours after the incident, a community leader confirmed the presence of soldiers in large numbers deployed in the area.
A community leader who preferred anonymity because he was not authorized to speak told Daily Trust yesterday that about 30 vehicles moved into the forest in the area in search of terrorists.
“You know this community has been under constant attacks by bandits, but after the explosion that injured the children in the village on Sunday evening, we started seeing heavily armed soldiers in about 30 vehicles moving into the Banaga and Yadi forest and bush. We were happy to see those soldiers, and we hope they succeed in freeing the forest of bandits,” he said.
He also urged the federal government and security agencies to sustain the tempo of the operation in the forest, saying that would help restore peace and the confidence of the villagers.
