Militants order oil companies to vacate Akwa Ibom

Militants under the auspices of Unyekisong Akwa Ibom have ordered all multinational oil companies operating in the state to vacate with immediate effect.

The group said the vacation notice was due to the unwholesome atrocities committed by the oil companies in oil producing communities.

In a statement signed by the Leader and the Assistant Leader of the group, General Dede Udofia and Major Ibanga Ekang, and made available to newsmen in Uyo, they said except for ExxonMobil and Savannah Petroleum, other oil companies have failed in their Corporate Social Responsibility role among other things, and should relocate their operational bases from the state.
