Katsina State Government Renovates 303 Junior and Senior Secondary Schools under the School Improvement Grant (SIG- Small Grant) through the School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) under the AGILE Project
As part of efforts to ensure equitable access to education for all in the state using the community approach in school management, the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, has, through the AGILE Project interventions, renovated a total of 303 Junior and Senior Secondary Schools across 34 LGAs of the state.
The interventions were executed through the School Based Management Committees (SBMCs). So far the sum of N4,933,800.00 ($11,280,000.00) was disbursed to 188 schools as large grant phase 1 where many important projects were executed. The schools environment in the schools is now conducive for teaching and learning.
The interventions have led to increase retention of students from 48% to 76% in the 2023/2024 academic session. A total of 13,392 Boys and 14,934 Girls have returned to school due to interventions by the AGILE project especially provision of toilets, water, student furniture and learning materials.
