Defending champion of the NBBF/Zenith Bank National Women’s Basketball League, MFM Women Basketball team continued their impressive performance in the Phase 2 of the 2024 league season, winning their fourth consecutive game in the Atlantic Conference currently going on in Enugu.
The Phase 1 didn’t go as planned for the Lagos-based team as they could only win three games out of six but like they did last season on their way to winning their first title, the girls have already won their first four games with two remaining with National finals in Lagos the major target.
On Wednesday, September 25, MFM defeated Sunshine Angels 90-63 to stay closer to qualification as four teams are expected to make it to Lagos.
On Tuesday, Nigeria Customs returned to winning ways, defeating Air Warriors 81-48 points in the Savannah Conference with Royal Aces also edging Kada Angels 73-50. Titans also secured a 46-43 points victory against Nasarawa Amazons.

Phase 2 hostilities in the annual competition continue in Abuja and Enugu today as the sponsor, Zenith Bank has promised to keep bringing out hidden talents in women basketball in the country.
The second phase ends this weekend in Enugu and Abuja with the best four teams in the two conferences –Atlantic and Savannah – coming over to Lagos for the final showdown billed to take place at the National Stadium Lagos between October 13 and 19.
