Seven candidates have been chosen for the selection exercise to fill the vacant stool of the Olowu of Owu Kingdom in Ogun State.

The nomination was a sequel to the screening of 12 princes who were nominated by five compounds that made the Otileta Ruling House.

The candidates are the Archbishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Adegbemi Adewale from Ile Aderinoye, Adelani Oladimeji from Ile Omo’le Efon and Matemilola Adelola from Ile Soke.

Others are Olatidoye Olaniyi from Soke, Adeyanju Bakinson from Ile Otopo,  Simeon Soyele from Ile Lumosa and Adesina Adelani from Ile Soke.

Owu Kingdom is the community of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is also the Balogun (Chief Warrior) of the kingdom.

The Olowu stool became vacant following the demise of the late Oba Adegboyega Dosumu, who joined his ancestors on December 12.
