Arsenal star Mesut Ozil says he has Saturday’s away trip to Newcastle United ‘in sight’ as the German targets his first trip to St James’ Park.
Bizarrely, the 29-year-old is yet to play at the home of the Magpies since joining the Gunners for £42.5million from Real Madrid in 2013.
Ozil missed a trip to the north-east in 2013 with a shoulder injury, had a knee injury for both games in 2015 and was rested for last season’s 2-1 defeat to Rafa Benitez’s side.
However, it looks like the midfielder is ready to sample one of the most famous stadiums in Britain after his fifth season in north London.
“Away trip to Newcastle is already in sight”, said Ozil.
The German should be fresh after spending the international break training with Arsenal as opposed to linking up with his country.
Ozil made himself unavailable for selection following accusations that he faced racism from the DFB.
The 29-year-old is in line to start alongside the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who also didn’t feature for their country during the break.
