Malam Nuhu Ribadu, a former presidential aspirant of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has called for an end to the internal wrangling in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
Ribadu made the call on Sunday while addressing his supporters at the office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yola.
He explained that the politicians he tagged as ‘divisors’ in the party should have a rethink because the founders of the party had resolved their differences to unite the party.
“The ‘party divisors’ use religion and ethnicity to get cheap and short way to power which they don’t deserve,” he added.
Ribadu who stressed the need for unity, said the glory of the party had been thwarted in the state since Governor Murtala Nyako’s administration.
The ADC state chairman, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, said that he would liase with former Governor Nyako for final endorsement of the merger plan.
He said the culture of imposition of candidates must not be tolerated so as to help move the party to greater heights and guarantee the success of the planned merger.
He also warned against injustice in the new merger.
“We are forced to return to APC to salvage the state from past bad leadership. “We must go back to drawing board and start afresh.
“We are the original owners of APC in Adamawa and are ready to work to reposition it on its right track again.
“We need to work hard to get to where we were before,” Mijinyawa said.
