This delivery line which supplies the Forcados export terminal takes feed from the Tunu, Opukusu and Ugbotubu flow stations. The point of attack is the Agge/Odimodi axis.

According to MEND, operation Piper Alpha veered off course to show its displeasure at the manner the government has reacted to the extra judicial killings of two brothers by the JTF that was caught on tape. The attack, it said, is dedicated to the brothers. It advised the Anglo-Dutch oil giant, Shell, to take a cue from Chevron and vacate the Niger Delta region to avoid damage to their investments and death to staff. “We do not intend to waste time taking hostages,” a MEND said in a statement.

A major pipeline belonging to AGIP which delivers crude oil to the Brass export terminal was blown up at the Nembe creek in Bayelsa state Friday morning by heavily armed MEND fighters.

The movement said, “Our fighters encountered a military gunboat and all the soldiers numbering seven were dispossessed of their weapons. The gunboat was also stripped of its weapons before it was disabled by explosives”.

JTF spokesman, Col.Rabe Abubakar added, “it is not out of place to talk of a group that does not exist, however, we want to categorically state that there was an attempt to attack the facility which was foiled at Agip pipelines at Nembe early this morning (yesterday). Therefore, the snatching of a gunboat as claimed is laughable as we don’t fight a dream war for cheap glory.  Our men are not cowards.
