Though he did not mentioned name, the mega party arrangement formally collapsed a fortnight ago, due to the insistence of both former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2011 presidency on one hand and the insistence of Action Congress (AC) strongman and former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that the platform should adopt a modified AC.

“Contrary to speculation that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his CPC scuttled the NDM project, we wish to state clearly that the NDM project is still on course except that the position of the CPC is that we will not fuse our party into any other political party under any guise. We rather opted for an alliance”, he said.
