Abubakar Yahaya Kusada, Speaker Katsina State House of Assembly, was on Saturday declared winner of the by-election into the House of Representatives to represent Kusada/Kankiya/Ingawa Federal Constituency.
He won under the platform of the ruling APC.
The election followed the election Ahmed Babba Kaita who moved to the Senate in a by-election in August.
Kusada polled 48,518 votes to defeat PDP’s Abdulsamad Abdullahi, who polled 20,193 votes, PRP’s Basiru Aminu with 1,810 votes and Abdullahi Umar of YES party who polled 221 votes.
Born 40 years ago, on the December 25, 1979 , Abubakar Yahaya Kusada had his early education at Kusada Model Primary School, Government Day Secondary School Kusada and Government Technical College, Ingawa.
He also studied at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic and Bayero University, Kano as well as Al-qalam University, Katsina.
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
The newly elected member is also a member of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyora and the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board.
Kusada had worked in his local government secretariat where he rose to become an Assistant Director, Town Planning.
Prior to his election in 2015 into the Katsina state House of Assembly to represent Kusada constituency, Abubakar was the state Coordinator of Buhari Youth Congress (BYC).
At the assembly, Abubakar had served as chairman House Committee on Works and Housing before his election as the Speaker on February 15, 2017.
The election followed the impeachment of the then Speaker of the House alongside some top leadership.
